Welcome to Ricky's Recording Room—where we teach you to transform your musical ideas into polished tracks.

Rick Butler's curiosity about music and sound began at age 4, with piano lessons, and through the years, learned clarinet, saxophone, drums, guitar, and bass. After earning a degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, he formed the grunge rock band 39 Steps in Chicago as lead singer. The band later relocated to Los Angeles, where Rick studied vocal technique with renowned rock vocal coach Elizabeth Sabine, known for training legendary hard rock and metal singers in power, stamina, and vocal safety. Ultimately, Rick shifted his focus to composing and producing music for film, TV, and advertising. He has had the pleasure of scoring shows for Disney Channel and Nickelodeon and producing talented young stars such as Ross Lynch, Laura Marano, Sabrina Carpenter, Dove Cameron, and others.
